10 THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR FREE!

During the week it’s easier for me to save because I am working most of the time. Weekends are like recess from school when it comes to shopping and although I am much better than I used to be, I find that there are plenty of things that I love to spend on when I get a moment or the chance.
I’m still working on it, especially when it comes to spending on money saving ideas or on renovations of my older home. These are the places I have the hardest time with.
When I am not doing those things, it’s sometimes hard to find something to do with your time otherwise when you are used to your spending habits, and especially if you have lived in your area all your life and can't really think of anything you would like to see or do, but it doesn't mean it's not out there.
Here are few ideas that might help all of us getting out of our spending patterns with just as much fun to be had.
  1. Museums are great places to visit and on certain days you can visit them for free. My local library even offers free passes to certain ones, so it’s worth checking out. Bring a lunch and eat at a nearby park or on the grounds, make a day of it.
  2. Check out your community calendar to see if there are festivals or something of the sort that might be going on. As far as I know, there is usually always someone celebrating something.
  3. The local library is free and some even let you take out DVD’s now as well. So go get a library card and check them out for a book or a movie.
  4. Try a new recipe that you keep putting off. Cook a gourmet meal for your significant other or family.
  5. Sign up for a free online course, class or podcast. Educate yourself about something. It’s a whole new world of opportunity now.
  6. Write a bucket list and plan on doing those things in your near future. Write down what’s in your heart of hearts to do and start planning to do them. Life is too short.
  7. If you can in your area (check your local laws about this before attempting because you can end up with fines), build a bonfire or find a friend who can. Nothing nicer than sitting around a crackling fire.
  8. Clear up a room, your budget, revamp your savings etc… Nothing like clearing something up to make you feel accomplished.
  9. Visit the places tourist would go check out and pretend you are one.
  10. Write /Text/ Email a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. They will appreciate getting news from you and you can re-connect with them.
These are only a few things that I could come up with, but you know there are 100 of ideas out there, like start a journal, meditate, blow bubbles, go dancing, plant a garden, go for a bike ride, watch the stars...the list goes on and on.
While some of these seem simple enough, we sometimes forget that there is a lot we can do for free or very little money. It gets to be a habit to spend cash as soon as we get it instead of leaving it in the bank and looking for cheap or free fun things to do.
So take a moment and make a list. Do some research online to get more ideas. It’s easier than you think. All you have to do is put it in motion.
